The Journey Begins

I have always toyed with the idea of blogging. But, the idea always seemed so daunting. I worried that I wouldn’t have anything worth saying or sharing. Who would want to hear what I have to say? Who would care about what I’ve gone through? But, as I have come to realize lately, it is often our stories that heal us and can heal others in the process. Words can break us and words can heal us. I am learning to listen to words that heal us. I am learning to listen to Jesus’s voice.

I have scars. Emotional and physical scars. The physical scars heal easier than the emotional. I have gone through some hard things in my life. For so long I felt like something was wrong with me, because that’s what Satan told me. He fed me lie after lie. And I listened to those lies. I wish I had not. I wish I would have been able to see myself through Jesus’s eyes a long time ago.

However, I am thankful for the trials. I am thankful for the emotional and the physical scars. Those scars have made me into the person I am today, a stronger person. All of our scars tell a story. They tell how we have survived! Scars are beautiful. Scars are powerful. YOU are beautiful. YOU are powerful. Whenever you feel ashamed of your past scars, look to Jesus. We are covered in Jesus’s blood. Jesus’s scars saved the world.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5 NKJV

I read on the Christian Broadcasting Network, that Jesus could have healed His scars and come back without them. Instead, He chose to keep them. Our scars are important, and He wants to use them. How powerful is that? If Jesus wasn’t ashamed of his scars, then why should we? We all have a story to tell. It’s our choice if we want to share it and heal from our wounds. Do you want to heal your past wounds? I know I do! Satan wants us to stay paralyzed by our past, to keep reliving the hurt. But, Jesus wants to use our past to propel us to the person he created us to be!

So I invite you on this journey with me. This journey of living life the way Jesus intended us to live. To live free of our past, our fears, our worries. So come on, let’s heal together!

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 NIV
